Original Artwork on Glass
One of my 'Alice' paintings, this painting started as a homage to one of the teachers who first introduced me to reverse oil painting on glass but evolved in progress into an imagined self-portrait. It is composed of two pieces of glass, the back panel is fully painted with the girl and landscape beyond while the front piece is a painted veil on clear glass. In strong lights the veil moves as the viewer moves past the work and the shadows cast by the veil also change with the available light. In the print the shadow is visible though fixed, and if you look closely the spiralling lines of lace trace a path the pupil of the girl's eye. Look even more carefully for the cat hiding in the landscape.
This 30cm x 25cm double paned painting is signed 'mjh,' dated '14' for 2014 for when the painting was started and is presented in a white box frame. Framed size is 33cm (h) x 28cm (w) x 3.5cm (d).
