Sussex Series: Brighton Pavilion

Previously £400.00

Original Artwork on Glass

A 15cm x 15cm original reverse oil painting on 4 mm glass featuring one of the iconic domes of the Brighton Pavilion under a spirally galaxy of stars. Also known as the Royal Pavilion, building began in 1787 on this seaside home for George, Prince of Wales, later the Prince Regent. During World War I it was converted into an army hospital for injured service men, many of whom would have been Indian soldiers fighting alongside the British forces (see The Chattri for more on this story). Today the Pavilion is open to the public and plays host to a number of events throughout the year, including an ice rink each winter. Alongside the Brighton Pier Funfair, the Pavilion is one of Sussex's most loved landmarks.

The painting is signed 'mjh,' dated '14' for 2014 for when the painting was started and is presented in a custom made double frame of white wood. Framed size is 30cm (h) x 30cm (w).

This painting is also available as a Small Fine Art Print.
