Animal Totems
Animal totems are powerful spirits who act as guides and companions on significant journeys in stories and across folklore traditions. They have their own strengths and wisdoms which can teach us important things about ourselves and help us on our journeys. Sometimes my animal totems are a conscious revelation and appear before all other details in a work, while other times they sneak in along the way taking me by surprise as the fish in 'Storm in a Teacup' did. Sometimes they dominate a work as in 'Phoenix Dreams' and sometimes you must hunt for them as in 'Through a Looking Glass.'
