Meet the Artist and Celebrate 'St John's at Christmas'
Tuesday 1 October, 11 a.m. The Spire Café The Church of St John the Evangelist, Burgess Hill Refreshments will be provided. Celebrating the launch of Christmas cards and fine art prints of ‘St John’s at Christmas,’ alongside an exhibition of my work. Card sales will benefit St John’s Church with a percentage of A2 Fine Art Print sales going to St John’s and the young person’s mental health charity YoungMinds. Painting Demo at The New Artist Fair
On Saturday, 14 September, I'll be giving a painting demo at the New Artist Fair in London, Truman Brewery, from 5-6 pm (setting up from 4 if you're in the area earlier ;) Founded in 2011 the New Artist Fair is one of the most popular artist-led art fairs in London, featuring high quality artwork by emerging and recently established artists from around the world. I will be one of several artists offering demonstrations throughout the weekend on the Art Experiences stand. West Dean College of Arts and Crafts - Exhibition of Work in Progress
"The future is asking, Are you really Syrious?" original work by Melanie Hodge inspired by Leonora Carrington, Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali & Edward James As part of my Step Up course with Outside In at the West Dean College of Arts and Crafts I exhibited work in progress at the West Dean Open Weekend 31 May - 2 June. Featured were a series of reflections and responses I've put together from my research so far, a small reproduction of the above collage work, and an original work on glass only partially completed (pictured below). Key Note Speaker at the DSFA / EUFASA Conference
On 13 May I was invited to give the key note address at the European Families and Spouses Association (EUFASA) conference being hosted by the UK's Diplomatic Service Families Association (DSFA) in London. The audience of delegates came from across Europe and represented over a dozen national families associations, supporting diplomats and their families posted around the world. The topic of my presentation was 'A Creative Life Away from Home' and focused on how to develop and sustain a creative career as an expat.
